Kia ora! I'm an ex support worker with ten years of childcare experience, specialising in disability support for children and young adults. I'm passionate about helping children develop and grow, and absolutely love working with children and families. I have a current NZ first aid certificate, full clean license and a car. I have also completed a training course for support workers through Spectrum Care. During my time at Spectrum Care, I worked with children with disabilities including ASD, ADHD, GDD, OCD and epilepsy. I worked alongside families to help these children with their specific needs and goals. Before that, I volunteered at Wairau Valley Special School. I also had a lot of involvement with caring for my younger brother as a teenager, as well as babysitting for relatives and later for friends. I consider my strengths to be my empathy, patience, creativity and enthusiasm. I am always engaged and present with children, and enjoy coming up with both educational and fun activities. I am good at being a calming presence on emotional or difficult days, by listening, reasoning, soothing and problem solving as needed. I've helped many children with ASD through really difficult meltdowns. I am also fit and really enjoy outdoor activities. I'm happy to assist with homework, cooking, take children out for activities etc. I will happily provide references on request. Please get in touch if you think I'd be a good fit for your family!
I am currently at the University of Auckland. I am in my final year studying towards a Bachelor of Science majoring in Psychology and Biology and completed my Bachelor of Health Science majoring in Health Promotion and Mental Health & Addiction in 2021. When I'm not studying I love to be around people and animals, travel and spend time at the beach. I also spend a lot of time tutoring high school students or curled up somewhere with my nose in a good book. I have 2 first aid qualifications: a workplace first aid (basic first aid) certificate and a Pre-Hospital Emergency qualification. I also have basic food safety and communication and leadership qualifications. My first language is English, but I am also semi-fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
I am an enthusiastic, caring and patient babysitter who has a real passion for providing a safe and nurturing environment for kids. I have prior experience working with teens and school aged children and I am a quick learner who is willing to work with children of all ages. I am able to assist with homework, lead creative activities like drawing and crafting, and play fun games. I'm also happy to help with chores and cooking. As a car owner with a valid restricted driver's license, I'm able to provide transportation. I am currently studying towards a bachelor in health science and I have a special interest in children’s growth and development. I am committed to creating a safe environment where children are able to thrive emotionally, physically and socially.

Kia ora families! My name is Julia. I am 37 years old and we have three of our own lovely children (11, 5 and 2). I am a registered Health Psychologist working part time at Auckland City Hospital. Prior to qualifying as a Health Psychologist I babysat and nannied for about 10 years. I am interested in casual evening babysitting but open to other ways I can help (I.e. occasional overnights, or shared care on Tuesday and Wednesdays when I have my little 2yr old), just reach out to discuss. I would describe my main childcare attributes as patient, calm and respectful, as well as being responsive to the child and family’s needs. My husband looks after our three when I am looking after yours! Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions.
