My name is Jesse and I am a qualified and registered teacher. I have been teaching in early childhood education for the past three years. I am police vetted and first aid trained. I am comfortable working with children of all ages. I am published children's author and wrote a book called First Week Blues. In 2006, I had brain cancer. I have an absolute passion to work with children.
I have worked with multiple families, mainly was casual work and babysitting. I have taken care of children of all ages, from month old babies up to young teenagers. I am able to prepare and cook meals, complete housework, manage homework along with school and activity drop offs and pick ups. For majority of the families, I have looked after their children for over the past 5 years, some a little longer. I have also grown up with three younger sisters and from that is where my passion came from for working with children. When my parents have been away on business I have been capable in managing the younger two, ie get them to school and activities along with completing what I have mentioned above.
My name is Kirsty, I'm 22 years old. I did early childhood education at high school and completed level 5 certificates in Nanny Education where I have done 13 weeks of practical placement; 1 in an early childhood centre, 2 live out nanny placements and 1 live in nanny placement. My Philosophy I believe that each child should be recognized and respected as an individual regardless of culture, ethnicity, age, religion or ability and children should be able to develop and explore in a safe environment that helps encourage their holistic development. Also children should be allowed to be children and that we as adults are there to provide a safe and nurturing environment where the child can have maximum opportunities to develop holistically. I also believe that it is important to model the behaviour that I want to teach.

I am a mother to one 19month old very busy boy. I am just finishing up caring for another boy of the same age so would love to find a new playmate for my son. I am happy for care to take place either in my home In Takapuna or yours, as long as my son is welcome in your home also. I have a great fully fenced yard for home days and we love to get out and about in the community to rhymetime at the library, the beach, playgrounds and playgroups.
My journey into education started in 2007 when I first began working at an ECE centre. Since then I have gained a Bachelor of Education from the University of Auckland and become a fully registered teacher. In 2016 I travelled to Italy to learn more about the Reggio Emilia approach which strongly inspires my work with children. My philosophy is also guided by Magda Gerber’s respectful approach and in 2015 I took part in the RIE foundations course to deepen my knowledge on respectful practice. These experiences have led me to believe that educating children in the home is best as it provides children with the peaceful and authentic environment that they need to grow and learn. The relationship I build with each child is the most important part of my work as within a trusting and supportive relationship, children can participate in quality learning experiences and truly thrive. My hope is that my home will be a special place to learn; where children feel loved, nurtured and respected.
